House Speaker Brian Bosma (R-88) is not waiting for next year's legislative session to gather support to make Indiana the 23rd right-to-work state. Television ads featuring Bosma are now running in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne calling for supporters to sign an online petition. Opponents of right-to-work believe its an effort to curb the impact of unions.
Supporters say it would create more jobs because many company's are staying away from non right-to-work states.
Bosma has stated passing the legislation is his top priority for the upcoming legislative session.
That position has been backed up by Senate President David Long (R-16).
Governor Mitch Daniels continues to study the issue and is expected to make his position known during a speech next month to outline his 2012 legislative priorities.
