Fort Wayne, Ind. – Tuesday, September 27, 2011 — The Ronald McDonald House of Northeast Indiana at Parkview today launched the public phase of its $2 million fundraising campaign to expand and move to Parkview Regional Medical Center in the fall of 2012.

The $2 million expansion project will grow the Ronald McDonald House to nearly 9,000 square feet with 10 sleeping rooms for families. $1.6 million has already been pledged to the campaign. Lead gifts were made by Parkview Hospital and McDonald’s. Generous local support by the Steel Dynamics Foundation with a $100,000 gift and a $50,000 grant by the Olive B. Cole Foundation along with other grants and pledges from local businesses and private donors represent the funds raised so far.

Hosting nearly 1,000 families a year, the new Ronald McDonald House will be located on the first floor of the Parkview Regional Medical Center keeping parents close to their loved ones in the pediatrics, pediatric intensive care and newborn intensive care units. Guest families will be able to relax in the home-like setting of the Ronald McDonald House, which will feature a large gathering room with private sitting area, kitchen and large family-style dining room, library with reading nook and computers, as well as a laundry room and night snack room. The Ronald McDonald House also offers drinks, snacks and evening meals to families staying at the House.

The Ronald McDonald House hopes to meet its campaign goal by the end of 2011. Donors making gifts beginning at $250 will receive recognition in the new House. Naming opportunities of rooms in the new Ronald McDonald House still remain for various gift levels.
