Daniels Makes Higher Ed Appointments

Governor Mitch Daniels has appointed a new member to the Commission for Higher Education. Chris LaMothe is chief executive officer of Daleville-based Sherry Laboratories Holdings LLC and a former CEO of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. The governor also made several reappointments to the boards of Indiana's state colleges and universities.

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS – Governor Mitch Daniels announced today a number of higher education board appointments, including a new member for the Commission for Higher Education and several appointments to the boards of Indiana’s state colleges and universities.

Indiana University:

Dr. William Cast, of Fort Wayne, has been reappointed to a second term on the Indiana University Board of Trustees. He earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana University in 1958 and graduated from the IU School of Medicine in 1962. He is the founder of DuPont Hospital in Fort Wayne and served as its first chairman.
Tom Reilly, Jr., of Indianapolis, has been reappointed to a second term on the board. He retired in 2003 after 13 years as the chairman of Reilly Industries. He has served as the chair of the Committee on Higher Education for the Indiana Government Efficiency Commission and president and CEO of the American Chemistry Council.
The appointment of an Indiana University student trustee will be announced at a later date.

Indiana State University

Norman Lowery, of Terre Haute, has been reappointed to the board. He is president and CEO of First Financial Bank, N.A., and vice chairman and CEO of First Financial Corporation. Lowery is a former president of the Greater Terre Haute Economic Development Corporation.
George Pillow, of Indianapolis, has been reappointed to the board. He is president and chief executive officer of Pillow Express Logistics. Pillow earned his undergraduate degree from Indiana State University and is a member of the ISU Athletics Hall of Fame

Ivy Tech Community College

The following reappointments are effective July 1:

· Lillian Livers, of Madison, is the director of the KDH Foundation at The King's Daughter's Hospital in Madison

· Anthony Moravech, of Columbus, is the president of Blairex Laboratories, Inc.

· Ned Pfau, of Terre Haute, is president and chief executive officer of Geo. Pfau's Sons Co., Inc

· Lee Marchant, of Bloomington, is president and CEO of LJM Enterprises, Inc

· Bruce Walkup, of Sullivan, serves as the regional president for First Financial Bank.

Terms expire 6/30/2014

University of Southern Indiana

Jeff Knight, of Evansville, was reappointed to serve a four-year term. He is executive vice president, chief legal counsel and corporate secretary for Old National Bank.
Ted Ziemer, of Evansville, was reappointed to serve a four-year term. He is a partner at Ziemer, Stayman, Weitzel & Shoulders, LLP, and is a past chairman of the board of trustees of the University of Southern Indiana Foundation.
Terms expire 6/30/2015

Commission for Higher Education

The Commission is a 14 member public body which serves as a coordinating agency for Indiana's state-supported system of higher education.

The following reappointments are effective July 1:

Jud Fisher, of Muncie, will serve a four-year term representing the 6th Congressional District. He is the executive associate director of the Ball Brothers Foundation and earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University.
George Rehnquist, of Princeton, will serve a four-year term representing the 8th Congressional District. He is past vice chairman of the national board of the YMCA of the USA and currently serves as president of the Gibson County Tourism and Visitors Bureau. Rehnquist earned his undergraduate degree from DePauw University and his law degree from Indiana University - Bloomington.
· Carol D’Amico, of Indianapolis, will serve a four-year term representing an at-large seat. Dr. D'Amico serves as education advisor to Conexus Indiana, a statewide organization devoted to enhancing the advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors. D'Amico also conducts research and strategic planning in higher education, workforce and economic development.

Terms expire 6/30/2015

The following new appointment is effective immediately.

· Chris LaMothe, of Indianapolis, will serve the remainder of a four-year term (6/30/2013) representing the at-large position. He serves as Chairman and CEO of Sherry Laboratories Holdings LLC a diversified testing company with 10 laboratories in Indiana, Louisiana Texas and Oklahoma serving a wide range of industries including aerospace, nuclear, medical device and instrumentation, petrochemical, food and environmental. Prior to that, he was president and CEO of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. LaMothe is a graduate of Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing and received his MBA from Indiana University. LaMothe replaces Gary Lehman who was recently appointed to the board of trustees of Purdue University.
