News Release
The University of Indianapolis has announced its newest campus construction project and contractor. Wilhelm Construction Company of Indianapolis will build South Hall, a residence hall that will open for the 2012-2013 school year.
The residence hall will have a capacity of approximately 200 upperclass men and women in a combination of single and double rooms. Large lobbies and a glassed-in patio will provide gathering and study spaces.
South Hall will be located between Warren and Cravens halls, two existing residence halls on the south side of Hanna Avenue on the UIndy campus. Work on the project begins in May, starting with creating a new parking lot and tearing out an existing lot. South Hall will open to student residents in August 2012.
Larry Roan, Vice President Business Development for Wilhelm Construction, says, “Wilhelm is pleased to have been chosen again by the University of Indianapolis to build another important enhancement to their campus. We look forward to applying our experience with university buildings, and student housing in particular, to this exciting new project.”
UIndy Dean of Students Kory Vitangeli says, “We've learned from the enthusiastic response to East Hall (currently UIndy’s newest residence hall), which we opened in 2009, that upperclassmen are very interested in privacy, tasteful decor and usable common areas that build community among the residents. We’re confident that South Hall will prove just as popular and will add to the appeal of living on campus."
