An effort to rebuild Indianapolis' infrastructure could spark "an unprecedented amount of building projects" over the next few years, according to a deputy mayor. Michael Huber credits the city's role as a "gap filler" in major projects like the planned million "North of South" project announced Monday.

The city is providing $9 million for public right of way improvements as well as sidewalk, curb and parking enhancements for the $150 million project near Eli Lilly and Co.'s (NYSE :LLY) corporate headquarters.
The city is also pledging infrastructure support for Clarian Health's $200 million expansion on the near near northside of downtown Indianapolis, which is expected to generate about 1,200 jobs.
