Hoosier Job Fair Attracts More than 800

Congressman Steve Buyer says this week's 2010 Hoosier Job Fair in Lafayette attracted 850 job seekers. He says more than 70 businesses offered approximately 1,200 positions. It was the 12th Hoosier Job Fair put on by the congressman and the third in the Lafayette area.

Washington, D.C. —Congressman Steve Buyer’s (IN-04) 2010 Hoosier Job Fair welcomed 850 job seekers through its doors on Monday. The 12th Hoosier Job Fair hosted 72 businesses offering over 1,200 employment opportunities to Hoosiers. Congressman Buyer released the following statement on his third job fair in the Lafayette area:

“I received a lot of positive feedback from employers at the Hoosier Job Fair on the quality and number of resumes they received, with a few hiring on the spot. I greatly appreciate the help of Mayor John Dennis of West Lafayette, Mayor Tony Roswarski of Lafayette, Lafayette Jefferson High School, the Greater Lafayette Commerce, WorkOne, and the Tecumseh Area Partnerships. The synergies of these partnerships made Monday’s job fair a successful event.”

-Lafayette, July 2010, 72 businesses participating offering over 1,200 jobs

-Lebanon, March 2010, 70 businesses participating offering over 1,000 jobs

-Monticello, August 2009, 68 businesses participating offering 2,500 jobs

-Crawfordsville, April 2009, 96 businesses participating offering 2,800 jobs

-Frankfort, September 2008, 83 businesses participating offering 2,800 jobs

-Avon, July 2008, 85 businesses participating offering 2,700 jobs

-Bedford, March 2008, 61 businesses participating offering 1,200 jobs

-Lafayette, July 2007, 118 businesses participating offering 1,500 jobs

-Bloomington, July 2006, 83 businesses participating offering 1,800 jobs

-Lafayette, March 2005, 75 businesses participating offering over 1,500 jobs

-Bloomington, April 2005, 94 businesses participating offering over 2,400 jobs

-Franklin, July 2004, 75 businesses participating offering 1,000 jobs.
