Press Release

Portage, IN—Graycor, a national construction company, plans to consolidate several operations and build a 44,000 square-foot facility to house offices and a metal fabrication shop at the AmeriPlex at the Port (Holladay Properties, Portage, IN). The construction of the building will cost roughly $4M and will employ many construction workers during the build-out.

Tim Healy, senior vice president of AmeriPlex, said the deal was two years in the making. Graycor is undergoing a strategic realignment of its facilities. Holladay Properties will own the building assisting Graycor in consolidating operations in Portage and creating a cost effective opportunity.

Graycor will employ 37 people immediately with a $3.5 million payroll averaging about $96,000 per employee prior to benefits. The company plans to hire 15 to 20 additional people in the next two years. The site will also have a 200,000-square-foot outdoor storage yard for equipment and vehicles, appropriately landscaped with berms and evergreen screening equipment.

The Northwest Indiana Forum, the regional economic development organization for the area, city officials and AmeriPlex tenants are pleased the project is moving forward. Don Koliboski, Forum Director of Economic Development said, “This type of corporate consolidation projects align with the Indiana Economic Development Corporations efforts.
