Five manufacturers have started making formal presentations to IndyCar Series officials for a new chassis. The sessions taking place this week are expected to lead to a recommendation of a new design by the end of the month.

IndyCar officials have stated the new chassis should be ready for the 2012 season. That is also the year the circuit plans to use a new engine.
The designers are making their pitches to the Iconic Izod IndyCar Series Advisory Committee.
The panel includes:
-IRL Chief Operating Officer Brian Barnhart
2003 Indianapolis 500 winner and deFerran Motorsports owner Gil de Ferran
-Former Jaguar Racing Formula One team principal Tony Purnell
-Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage
-Former IRL Vice President of Competition Tony Cotman
-Speedway Engine Development, Inc. Founder Rick Long
The committee mediator is retired Air Force Gen. William R. Looney III.
