More Toyota Production Possible at SIA

InsideINdianaBusiness.com Report

The unit of Toyota responsible for Camry production at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc. (SIA) plant in Lafayette is seeking tax abatement for $42 million in new equipment. The proposal from Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing of Northern Kentucky is expected to be considered by the Lafayette Redevelopment Commission Thursday. The new equipment would be used for the next generation Camry.

The Lafayette Journal and Courier reports, if approved, the abatement could prompt increased Camry production and more jobs at SIA.

The plant produced approxmately 90,000 Camrys last year.

If the city's redevelopment commission supports the idea, the Lafayette City Council will take up the abatement request June 7.
