The Department of Defense has added 500 Humvees to an order with AM General. The vehicles will be made at the company's Mishawaka facility. The estimated completion date is December 31.

In February, GM announced that a deal to sell the Hummer line to a Chinese industrial company had fallen through.
Earlier, the military cancelled new orders of the Humvee, putting the future of the plant and hundreds of workers in jeopardy.
Union officials say production of a new age taxi cab at the plant will secure the facilty's future.

AM General, LLC, South Bend, Ind., was awarded on May 5 a $54,264,735 firm-fixed-price contract to add 500 Humvees to contract. Work is to be performed in Mishawaka, Ind., with an estimated completion date of Dec. 31, 2010. One bid was solicited with one bid received. TACOM Warren, CCTA-ATA-C, Warren, Mich., is the contracting activity (DAAE07-01-C-S001).
