FRANKLIN, Ind. – The five Republicans battling for their party’s nomination to run for the Senate seat now held by Democrat Evan Bayh will debate at Franklin College on Monday, April 19.
The debate will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Branigin Room of the college’s Napolitan Student Center.
The candidates facing off in the May 4 primary election and participating in the Franklin debate are Don Bates Jr., John Hostettler, Dan Coats, Richard Behney and Marlin Stutzman.
The event is open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets may be reserved by contacting Ann Barton at 317-738-8208 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Reserved tickets will be held at the entrance of the Branigin Room the day of the debate, with pickup beginning at 11 a.m. The audience must be seated by 11:55 a.m. to accommodate a live broadcast on WFCI radio, 89.5 FM.
John Krull, director of Franklin’s Pulliam School of Journalism, will moderate the debate. A panel of Franklin College journalism students will question the candidates. Audience members also will be able to ask questions.
“The Pulliam School of Journalism is honored to host this event, allowing our students and community to get an up-close look at democracy in action,” Krull said.
