Press Release

February 24, 2010

FORT WAYNE – For over 50 years, the Sport, Vacation & Boat Show was one of Fort Wayne’s major happenings, but in 2009 the show went dark. Enter David Marquart, Fort Wayne native and president and co-owner of Coliseum Productions.

“I worked for the old show when it was owned by the McDowell’s some 20-plus years ago,” Marquart said. “So when the opportunity came to rent the Coliseum in 2010 for the same March weekend on which the old show always took place, I grabbed it.

“My vision was to combine the best of the old show with brand new features and exhibitor categories,” he continued. “We wanted to create a new-look show for today’s active outdoor enthusiast, an event that will carry the great Fort Wayne sportsman show tradition onward for the next 50 years.”

Marquart and his team of experts at Coliseum Productions got right to work breathing new life into the show. And nearly a year later, the Fort Wayne Outdoor Sports, Lake & Cabin Show is set for its
debut.

The biggest changes are reflected in the show’s new name. “We have created a total lifestyle event for active people who love the outdoors,” Marquart explained. “It’s still all about the outdoor activities and sports vacations we love, but with the addition of ‘lake & cabin’ exhibitors and features, it now is about the ‘where’ and ‘how’ we want to live, too.”

The show will occupy over 108,000 square-feet of space in the Coliseum. Guests will have the opportunity to learn about, compare and purchase a wide range of products in a brand new show
layout featuring both the old (RVs & Motorsports; Boats & Water Sports; Hunting & Fishing; Vacation & Travel; Biking, Hiking, Camping & Fitness) and the new (an extensive section devoted to
Log Cabin & Cottage Living).

“There’s something here for everyone who loves to spend time in and around the great outdoors,” said Marquart’s Coliseum Productions’ partner Bob Rosen. “The layout of the show in six distinct feature areas will help you find what you are looking for, but be prepared to stumble upon something cool that you didn’t know you were looking for!”

“Not only do we have tons of exhibitors eager to talk about their products and answer questions, we have many unique features for guests to enjoy as well,” Rosen noted. “I can’t imagine anyone going
home disappointed.”
