Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing has issued a new round of layoffs at its forklift plant near Columbus. Our partners at The Republic report the Walesboro work force is being reduced by 10 percent through voluntary exits and performance-based downsizing. The company cites continued weak market conditions.

After the latest round of cuts, the company is expected to employ around 600.
