A turnaround is a planned, periodic total or partial shutdown of a refinery process unit or plant to overhaul and repair operations and to inspect, test and replace materials and equipment.

United Steelworkers District 7 International Staff Representative
Bob Lofton is not aware of any specific plans for a turnaround, but says they are normal occurrences at the refinery.

Lofton adds, turnarounds don't necessairly mean layoffs because many employees are trained to complete certain projects.
