State officials say repairs to the bridge have been estimated at $90 million. They also say it had been averaging 30,000 vehicles per day.

Governor Mitch Daniels will travel to northwest Indiana Tuesday to receive an update on the closure of the Cline Avenue bridge. The Indiana Department of Transportation announced last week a plan to permanently close the bridge. INDOT has said it will work with the affected communities to identify the best long-term options for
replacing the roadway.

The Cline Avenue bridge has been closed since last month.
Northwest Indiana Forum President and Chief Executive Officer Vince Galbiati told our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana "it's a very serious situation for businesses on the lakefront."
He hopes state officials have included factors including the bridge's former role as a reliever of traffic congestion and truck route.
