INDIANAPOLIS – To better accommodate the diverse learning styles and work and family schedules of its students, Ivy Tech Community College will offer a slate of classes, starting spring semester, which run from 9 p.m. to midnight at its downtown Indianapolis campus.
The “Moonlight Madness” classes will include popular general education courses, including Math 118, English 112, Psychology 101 and History 101. All classes will be held at the downtown Indianapolis campus located at 50 West Fall Creek Parkway North Dr. Spring semester begins the week of January 11.
“We’re piloting the Moonlight Madness classes to create educational options for individuals who find it difficult, if not impossible, to take classes at traditional times,” said Dr. Hank Dunn, Chancellor of Ivy Tech’s Central Indiana region. “With this line up of classes, students could complete an entire semester of course work just by choosing the later start times or by combining the late night classes with earlier evening courses.
“The late start classes will also address classroom space and parking constraints on the main campus,” Dunn said. “At one month out from the beginning of the spring semester, we’ve filled up to 80 percent of the seats available for day and evening classes offered Monday through Thursday. We expect that course registrations between now and the start of the semester will take seating close to capacity. The Moonlight Madness courses take advantage of parking spots and classrooms that normally sit empty after nine in the evening.”
