Lebanon-based C.F. Jones Group will break ground this afternoon on the new Witham Family YMCA in Boone County. The $6.9 million facility, which will be located on the Witham Hospital campus, is scheduled to be completed late next year and create about 100 jobs. The YMCA says it has raised nearly all of the funds towards the new building, with an additional $350,000 needed to complete the project.

Lebanon, Ind.—Dec. 9, 2009—C.F. Jones Group will break ground today at 3:30 p.m. on the Boone County’s new Witham Family YMCA. C.F. Jones, a regional design/build and construction management firm headquartered in Lebanon, will direct construction of the two-story, 35,000 square foot facility with a price tag of approximately $6.9 million. The facility is anticipated to be completed and open to Boone County families late 2010 and create about 100 jobs.
The new 35,000 square foot, two-story facility will be located on the Witham Hospital campus and will include:
- A instructional pool and swim lanes
- Full court Gymnasium
- Men’s and women’s locker rooms
- Family locker rooms
- A fitness center
- Walking track
- A child watch area
- An aerobics room
- A Witham Hospital physical therapy area
- Meeting space
- Office facilities for staff
The new Boone County YMCA is expected to create about 100 jobs for Boone County. The YMCA has raised nearly all of the funds towards the new building, with an additional $350,000 needed to complete the project. Fred Jones, who is president and CEO of C.F. In September, it was announced the new YMCA in Boone County would become part of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis. This means members of the Boone County YMCA will have access to the 12 YMCA facilities throughout Indianapolis. Currently, the Boone County Family YMCA serves about 1,000 individuals, but with a new facility the branch is expected to serve more than 4,000 in its first year of operation. Upon completion of the new facility, the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis will consist of 13 branches that will all retain their identity in their local communities.
