Two Northwest Indiana Chambers Merging

InsideINdianaBusiness.com Report

The Greater Crown Point Chamber of Commerce and the Merrillville Chamber of Commerce have both voted in favor of merging. The two groups have discussed joining forces since June, which will bring a combined 700 members together. The new, unnamed chamber hopes to be running early next year. Our partners at the Times of Northwest Indiana report the final three candidates for the executive director position of the new chamber will have second interviews the week after Thanksgiving.

The Crown Point chamber membership voted in favor of the merger Thursday, while the Merrillville chamber membership voted the same November 10.

The new chamber will share a Web site, clerical services and accounting services.

Most businesses will see a small increase in dues, but some that already belong to both chambers, would see a decrease.
