Decatur County has been awarded $595,000 in Federal Highway Administration Transportation Enhancement funds. The money will help with the first phase of Monroe County's Unionville Rail Trail project. The funding is being distributed by the Indiana Department of Transportation.

MONROE COUNTY, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) awarded Decatur County $595 thousand in Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Transportation Enhancement funds. These funds will be used for Phase 1 of Monroe County’s Unionville Rail Trail project.
Monroe County officials made their case for the federal matching funds before an award panel at the INDOT Seymour District offices on September 29th. The panel’s decision to choose Monroe County’s project was recently confirmed by a selection committee in Indianapolis.
Monroe County was one of 3 applications received in which over $2.7 million was requested. The total amount of federal funds available for Seymour District was $1,340,000. .
