Connersville Lines Up More Support
Members of Indiana's Congressional delegation are offering support to Connersville as the city makes its final push to land a Carbon Motors Corp. plant and potentially several thousand jobs. U.S. Senator Richard Lugar says Indiana has "the critical mass of people, companies, researchers and experience to lead in advanced car and component innovation." Senator Evan Bayh says eastern Indiana is "an ideal place to locate," while U.S. Representative Mike Pence says Connersville has the right talent, people, infrastructure and business climate to make any major business successful. The city will host a jobs rally Wednesday as it awaits a decision from Carbon Motors.

The City of Connersville and Fayette County have announced that “A Rally for American Jobs” and press conference will be held at a shuttered automotive plant at 4747 Western Avenue, Connersville, Indiana 47331 on Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at 11:30am EDT.
“Three years ago I challenged Indiana to become the ‘Silicon Valley’ for the automobile of the future. I made the case that Indiana had the critical mass of people, companies, researchers and experience to lead in advanced car and component innovation. Now many encouraging and job-creating advances are occurring around the state. We need to keep these successes rolling,” U.S. Senator Dick Lugar said.
Senator Evan Bayh said, “Innovative companies are wise to be taking a close look at eastern Indiana as an ideal place to locate their operations—and a great place to do business. Indiana is a manufacturing leader populated with skilled and highly motivated workers ready to get the job done. For companies looking for a hard-working, family-oriented, business-friendly community to put down roots, they couldn’t make a smarter choice than the City of Connersville.”
