Ivy Tech and utility companies from around the state are partnering on the initiative, which will focus on gas, power plant and electric line technology.

INDIANAPOLIS - Ivy Tech Community College and local utility companies have partnered to offer career information sessions for individuals interested in emerging energy careers. This partnership is administered through Ivy Tech's division of Workforce and Economic Development.

Individuals interested in learning about training for careers in energy can attend two information sessions and network with industry leaders Monday, July 27, at Ivy Tech’s downtown Indianapolis campus, located at 50 W. Fall Creek Pkwy. North Dr.

The sessions will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the North Meridian Center 4th Floor Auditorium. Topics include gas technology, power plant technology, and electric line technology. Display and information booths will also be staffed with industry partners from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Partners attending the sessions include Alcoa Power Plant, Citizens Gas, Duke, Indianapolis Power & Light, Miller Pipeline, NIPSCO/NiSource, REMC, and Vectren.

Training scholarships are available for those who qualify.
