Press Release
Bloomington, Ind. -- Paul Sullivan, Indiana University's deputy vice president for administration, will temporarily oversee the executive portfolio of J. Terry Clapacs, who retires today (June 30) as vice president and chief administrative officer.
Sullivan assumes the role of acting vice president for administration on Wednesday, July 1, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees, and will serve in that role while President Michael A. McRobbie conducts a review of all the major activities in that department to determine how they will be managed in the future.
Sullivan, a 33-year IU employee, will have university-wide executive responsibility for facilities and physical plant, human resources, campus police and risk management, environmental health and safety, real estate management, procurement and travel.
He also will continue to co-chair the University Emergency Preparedness Committee and the Sustainability Task Force for the Bloomington campus.
Sullivan, who earned a master's of business administration from IU, has held a number of key financial and administrative positions at IU during his career. He served as director of payroll, associate director in Financial Management Support (where he oversaw the development of the Financial Information System) and later as associate director of human resources.
Currently, he directly oversees environmental health and safety, risk management and campus police activities, while working closely with the facilities areas, as well as procurement and travel management services.
