Indianapolis-based RW Armstrong and Archer Western Contractors of Illinois have been awarded a nearly $39 million contract for a presidential helicopter hangar and airfield improvements at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. RW Armstrong will provide design and project management services to Archer Western Contractors. The new facility will house the presidential helicopter and provide hangar space for a multi-story maintenance shop medical, storage and support areas.

INDIANAPOLIS - RW Armstrong and Archer Western Contractors have been awarded a $38,949,000 contract for the design and construction of the Presidential Helicopter Hangar and airfield improvements at Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia. RW Armstrong is headquartered in Indianapolis and employs more than 500 people throughout its 16 offices worldwide.

RW Armstrong will provide design and project management services to Archer Western Contractors on this project. The new 65,000 square foot facility will house the Presidential Helicopter Squadron HMX-1, and will provide hangar space for an adjacent multi-story maintenance shop as well as administrative, medical, storage and support areas. The project will also include 540,000 square feet of new airfield taxiway and apron pavement. The contract was awarded in May 2009 and is currently in development. The hangar is expected to be complete by March 2011.
