Japan-based Keihin Corp. has renamed Keihin Indiana Precision Technology Inc. as Keihin North America Inc. to reflect the location's new position as corporate headquarters overseeing North American operations. The company says the change is part of a business reorganization to increase efficiencies and growth opportunities. Keihin North America's subsidiaries include Keihin IPT Mfg. Inc. in Greenfield and Keihin Aircon North America Inc. in Muncie.

Muncie, Ind. -- Keihin Corporation's North American office, Keihin Indiana Precision Technology, Inc., (KIPT) will change its name to Keihin North America, Inc., (KNA) in recognition of its new position as corporate headquarters overseeing North American operations. KNA will go beyond its current sales and holding company roles by adding administrative, business planning, materials, quality, overall production and technical functions for further efficiencies and growth opportunities.
KNA is a privately held manufacturer of strategic engine management systems, HVAC systems, and electronically actuated systems for the OE Automotive and Power Sports markets. Its major shareholder is Keihin Corporation, Tokyo, Japan (publicly listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange). Additional shareholders are American Honda Motor Company, Torrance, CA, and Honda Foundry Co., Ltd., Japan.
"The name change is only the first step in the business reorganization," said Masami Watanabe, President and CEO. "We are looking forward to a complete business rejuvenation that will energize our associates and strengthen our foundation core for the current environment and beyond."
United States manufacturing subsidiaries of Keihin North America, Inc., include:

Japan-based Keihin Corporation, a Tier 1 supplier to the automotive industry with global annual sales of $3 billion, produces engine, transmission, and climate control products including intake manifold assemblies, HVAC assemblies, compressors, carburetors, valves, solenoids, and electronic control units. Keihin's chief customer and largest shareholder is Honda Motor Co., Ltd. Keihin first began U.S. manufacturing in 1989.
