NPower Indiana is using a $24,000 grant from Verizon to help instruct nonprofits on how to effectively use technology in their offices. The organization will also provide free professional assessments to local nonprofits and evaluate their technology needs. NPower plans to review its online technology assessment tool to make sure it is keeping up with advancements.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. Oct. 4, 2008 – NPower Indiana recently received a $24,000 grant from Verizon to support the organization’s mission to ensure that all nonprofits can use technology to better serve their communities.

“It is imperative that nonprofit organizations utilize technology to its fullest in order to achieve efficiencies and to maximize
their effectiveness,” said Matt Kelley, director of public affairs, policy, and communications for Verizon. “Verizon is honored
to support NPower Indiana’s mission with this grant and to help it expand the number of nonprofi ts around the state
that will benefi t from technology.”

With the grant, NPower Indiana will provide a critical service by instructing nonprofits how to effectively use technology
in their offices to enhance their programs. In addition, NPower Indiana will provide free professional assessments to local
nonprofits and evaluate their technology needs.

“NPower Indiana is unique in its role of providing IT services exclusively to other nonprofi ts,” said Mike Harmon, CEO
of NPower Indiana. “We ensure that they can use technology to better serve their communities and allow them to be more
cost effective in their day-to-day efforts.”

The funding provided by Verizon will also allow NPower Indiana to review and refine its “Stable and Secure” online technology
assessment tool so it will stay current with ever-evolving advancements in the operating capabilities and requirements
of technology infrastructure. Currently with more than 135 nonprofi t members, who in turn serve tens of thousands of constituents across the state, NPower Indiana plays a critical role in the lives of many Hoosiers.
