Roche says this decision does not impact the expected job growth announced with the expansion in March or in any other areas of the business.
Statement from the company:
Roche has made a strategic, yet difficult, decision to transfer the Global Roche Professional Diagnostics Operations (RPD) and Research and Development functions located in Indianapolis to Germany (Mannheim and Penzberg).
The affected groups are primarily in the areas of Operations, Research and Development, and support functions engaged in the development and manufacturing of reagents for the central laboratory. The transfer is expected to occur in a phased approach over the next three years.
Approximately 300 positions will be impacted across the site in Indianapolis.
This decision has been made because, with approximately 85 percent of our production for RPD already in Germany (Mannheim and Penzberg), this change will result in improved profitability, consolidated multi-site operations and development, and improved productivity and efficiency.
Those who are impacted will receive a minimum of 60 days notice and will be supported to find another position within Roche or through outplacement services and a standard severance package.
This decision does not impact the expected job growth announced with the Marsh expansion in March or in any other areas of our business.
