Seven individuals have been chosen for the inaugural class of the Northwest Indiana Business and Industry Hall of Fame. Former President of NIPSCO and leader of the Northwest Indiana Forum Mark Maassel, Whiteco Industries Chief Executive Officer Dean White, Powers and Sons Construction President and CEO Mamon Powers Jr. and Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana and the Community Healthcare System President Donald Powers are among those being honored.

The owner of the former Ribordy chain of drug stores Denis Ribordy, part-owner of Van Til's supermarket Frank Van Til and the owner of the former Welsh Oil Co. and CEO of Welsh Holdings Inc. Robert Welsh Jr. are also being inducted into the Hall of Fame.
More than 75 people were nominated for the honor and the honorees were chosen by a panel of local business and civic leaders.
The Times of Northwest Indiana and BusINness magazine will host a ceremony with Governor Mitch Daniels and Congressman Pete Visclosky (D-1st) on March 7 to honor those selected for the Hall of Fame.
