James Morris on Saturday will be the guest of honor at a banquet to benefit The People Helping People Network and its humanitarian causes. Morris previously served as executive director of the United Nations World Food Programme, overseeing in 2003 the largest humanitarian operation in history.

Indianapolis, Ind. -- The People Helping People Network (PHP) is honoring James “Jim” Morris Saturday, Feb. 9th at Primo’s Banquet Hall and Conference Center, 2615 E. National Ave., Indianapolis.
The reception is at 6 p.m. and dinner is at 7 p.m. The banquet benefits PHP and its humanitarian endeavors.
Among the banquet attendees expected to attend will be Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard and his wife, Winnie. Ballard will deliver a special presentation to Morris at the event.
Also attending will be three area mayors, including Beech Grove Mayor Joe Wright, Lawrence Mayor Paul Ricketts, and Southport Mayor Rob Thoman.
In April 2002, Morris became the tenth Executive Director of the United Nations World Food Program – the world’s largest food aid organization. In 2003, he successfully guided the World Food Program in carrying out the largest humanitarian operation in history, feeding 27 million Iraqis.
For more than three decades, Morris has combined a distinguished career of business, philanthropic and humanitarian leadership with a personal life of pubic service. Currently, Morris serves as a special advisor to the CEO and president of the Indiana Pacers.
Since its founding, PHP has brought thousands of people together to meet the needs of others through a variety of programs, partnerships and services. Each year, they honor an individual who has made an outstanding contribution in service to others in need around the world.
