Press Release

Innovation and entrepreneurism are a vital part of a community’s economic development effort. “We are announcing today the establishment of an incubator at the Thomas P. Miller and Associates (TPMA) building off of I-70 and Mt. Comfort Road in Mount Comfort, Indiana” stated Tom Miller, President, of Thomas P. Miller and Associates, a nationally recognized firm specializing in economic development and workforce strategies. “This incubator is focused on launching and assisting small businesses in their early growth” said Miller.

“Through the years, we have been fortunate to work with many companies, communities and states and we strongly advocate an aggressive entrepreneurial approach to economic growth”, said President, Tom Miller. “We decided that Hancock County, as one of the fastest growing counties in Indiana, should have an incubator to provide innovation and entrepreneurial services to companies seeking to grow their businesses. It’s the role of the private sector to step forward and lead these types of efforts. We decided that our location in Mt. Comfort, the talent and experience we have assembled on our staff to support entrepreneurs, and the relationships we have with most of Indiana’s public and private universities and colleges would enable us to provide the necessary services critical to growing these businesses in their early stages.”

Miller indicated that a few years ago, a firm, Six Feet Up, Inc. (www.sixfeetup.com), was successfully incubated and graduated from the TPMA building. “Calvin and Gabrielle Hendryx-Parker were talented founders of Six Feet Up and the firm now has ten employees located at Intratech Park, 12 South Main Street, Fortville, Indiana” stated Miller. “Six Feet Up focuses on open source technology and we gained much insight and experience working with them. We are confident we can apply what we learned to other firms as well”. Calvin Hendryx-Parker (Six Feet Up) stated that “since reducing Indiana’s brain drain and moving back to Hancock County from California, we have found this area to be conducive to our business and the help we received from TPMA was beneficial to us.”

“Most incubators”, Miller indicated, “provide standard services; however the approach at TPMA, as in our consulting, will be to provide customized, wrap around services specifically designed to meet the needs of emerging businesses.” “Our focus is to make these businesses grow and succeed and you do that with customer centered services and products,” stated Miller.
