[UPDATED] Bloomington Life Sciences Company Marks Milestones

BLOOMINGTON, INDIANA – September 25, 2007– BioConvergence LLC, an Indiana-based contract solutions provider to the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, announced two important milestones for its growing life sciences business today. It has received certification from Indiana’s Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program (INSHARP), making it the first life sciences company in Indiana to receive such certification and completed a 21,000 SF expansion of its headquarters in Bloomington.

BioConvergence was recently approved for the Indiana Department of Labor’s INSHARP program, which recognizes small businesses that demonstrate exemplary occupational safety and health programs. In May of 2007, BioConvergence began working with INSafe, a division of the Indiana Department of Labor to achieve INSHARP certification, and received approval in July. An award was presented to BioConvergence on September 24th by Indiana Department of Labor Commissioner, Lori A. Torres.

INSHARP is similar to the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), designed for larger companies with longer operating histories. INSHARP participants are recognized by IOSHA for their proactive approach to occupational safety and health and are granted exemption from programmed OSHA compliance inspections. “Small businesses like BioConvergence are fortunate to have such an accessible, much-needed resource as INSHARP. The INSafe consultants that we worked with helped us to efficiently enhance our existing EHS program into a model program,” said Alyson Norrick, EHS Coordinator, BioConvergence.

Also, BioConvergence has completed its first expansion of its Bloomington facility on time. The expansion increases capacity in areas already offered and adds new capacity to meet the needs of its global client base. Specifically, it includes ISO 8 compliant sampling and dispensing for active and inactive pharmaceutical ingredients as well as room temperature, refrigerated and frozen storage and related services. The expansion brings the total facility size to 71,000 SF. “We are very excited that we can now offer our client base new and improved services through use of these state of the art facilities. Our increased capacity will provide our clients with more options for supply chain and materials management at BioConvergence,” said John Brooks, Chief Operating Officer, BioConvergence.
