Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana says low demand for the Toyota Sequoia has resulted in plans to eliminate its variable workforce by the end of the year. About 370 temporary employees are affected by the decision. TMMI officials say they are working to assist temporary workers in finding new jobs. TMMI is located in southwest Indiana in Princeton.

Media Statement
Toyota is proud of its commitment to providing long-term employment security to its team members. To maintain that commitment in a highly cyclical industry, Toyota at times uses a number of strategies to remain flexible to market demands.
These strategies include overtime, weekend work and a variable (temporary) work force. We consistently evaluate our staffing requirements to ensure we have appropriate levels.
Although Toyota sales are good overall, demand for the TMMI-built Sequoia remains slow. As a result, TMMI will ask PMI, the company that provides TMMI with variable work force team members, to end all production team member assignments at TMMI by the end of the year.
TMMI appreciates the great service provided by PMI team members. PMI will attempt to place its team members with other PMI accounts and offer other support.
Toyota is assisting PMI with that effort. Already, 17 former PMI team members have accepted positions at Subaru of Indiana Automotive where Toyota has begun building the Camry.
