Indiana Researchers Develop 'Next Generation' of CT Scans
A CT scanner is a mammoth in the medical field—a 3,000-pound contraption that spins around an axis at a mindboggling velocity, generating critical images for doctors. While the medical industry has relied on CT scanners for decades, concerns about patients' radiation exposure associated with the method have always given doctors pause—until now. A team of researchers from Purdue University and University of Notre Dame has collaborated with GE Healthcare to launch what they say is the next generation of CT imaging—an advancement that not only lessens radiation concerns, but also opens the door for even more applications.
