Biography

Carey Hart is a senior communication major at the University of Indianapolis. As an intern at Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, Carey focuses on the company’s eXceL Awards program. The eXceL Awards (formerly known as Project XL) were established in 1989 to encourage Indiana high school students to express themselves creatively on topics of interest and vital importance to teenagers. Each year, students from across the state submit entries in six categories: 2-D art, 3-D art, creative writing, music, performance, and video art. Over the program’s 18 years of existence, more than 80,000 Indiana high school students have entered projects and nearly $600,000 in scholarship prize money has been awarded.
